Did you know that you can monetize your website with a dropship affiliate program?
A dropship affiliate program is an excellent way to monetize your website, or create some extra income with little or no work involved.
Many people use various affiliate programs to generate a source of income or to make their website pay for its own upkeep and maintenance. You can, too!
What is a Dropship Affiliate Program?
You may have at least heard of affiliate programs but be unclear about exactly what they are and how they work. A basic explanation of an affiliate program is that it is a program in which a company pays you commissions in return for having a link to their site on your site.
In the case of a dropship affiliate program, you would be dealing with a dropship business.
There are different types of affiliate programs out there with varying pay scales and set ups, and it would behoove you to familiarize yourself with them before entering into an agreement with a particular company.
Here are the most common types of affiliate programs that you might fnd with a dropship company:
- Bounty—This may be the least desirable type of dropship affiliate program, depending on the amount of the bounty, or the amount of money you receive under the terms of the agreement. In a bounty type affiliate program, you will receive a flat rate, one time payment for each customer you refer and will not be entitled to any future commissions from that referral. In most cases, the bounty payment runs between $10 and $20 per customer referred through your site. If you refer quite a few customers, you might be perfectly happy to give up future commissions in return for a generous bounty. Bear in mind that this bounty is paid for visitors who become customers, not just visitors in general.
- PPC or Pay Per Click— With this type of affiliate program, you will get paid for everybody who clicks through from your site to the referring merchant, regardless of whether they make a purchase or become a customer, or not. Obviously, these don’t pay as much as a bounty affiliate program, but you can still make a good chunk of change if you have enough traffic to send a lot of click throughs to the merchant. Most merchants will pay you between $0.05 and $0.10 per click through.
- Commission Based Pay Per Sale— This one is similar to a bounty affiliate program, except that instead of being paid a flat amount of money for each customer referred through your website, you get paid a commission that depends on the amount of the sale. Some dropship companies will pay a sliding scale of commissions that rewards the affiliate sites with high traffic by paying a higher commission. In addition, some merchants will pay commissions for future purchase from one of your referrals—sometimes for a period of 6 months or a year sometimes for life.
